Originally reviewed: earlier V2 Elite Console (2022). Saw this system pop up on Facebook and thought it looked good so decided to take a punt. What can I say….AMAZING! Yes I know you can make your own system for a lot less money but the joy of this is that these guys do all the set up, all the loading of games and most importantly they test everything to make sure you only have working games on each system. PS2, Saturn and Dreamcast games run perfectly 99% of the time with only the odd glitch which can usually be fixed by switching emulators. Recommend 100%

Originally reviewed: earlier V2 Elite Console (2022). This system is absolutely amazing so easy to use and the games play brilliantly so many retro games loving the Dreamcast games and the retro arcade games which I thought I would never play again I was wrong they all play brilliantly best system on the market

Originally reviewed: earlier V2 Elite Console (2022). Purchased this system 2 weeks ago and wow this systems has everything you’ll ever need. I think the price is a 100% true reflection on what your going to get and the support I got when I needed a few pointers was excellent. I would definitely recommend this system.

Originally reviewed: earlier V2 Elite Console (2022). Purchased a couple of weeks ago & was a bit sceptical as have had average experiences with retro pi’s & android emulation etc but this system is amazing, definitely worth the price, my old Saturn died & this system replicates the games better than originals as you can upscale a lot of games which then look amazing. Dreamcast, model 3 & gamecube all look & play fantastic too, plus any questions you need answering get answered almost immediately, definitely buy one you will not regret it.

Originally reviewed: V2.1 Elite Console. Purchased The 2.1 Elite Console a few days ago. What can I say, this is amazing. I have been looking for a System that plays all of my favourite games & I think I might have found it. Now I have all of my favourite games on one console. Excellent selection of games & consoles. Can’t recommend this enough you won’t be disappointed.

Originally reviewed: earlier V2 Elite Console (2022). Absolutely banging bit of kit! Many thousands of games installed and little to no tinkering required. (By tinkering I mean game controls to my preference. No issues with emulation) My boys and myself are currently smashing a 3 way GameCube Mario Kart session and my oldest is well chuffed with his birthday present. Cheers, Mike Humphreys – South Wales

Originally reviewed: V2.2 Elite Console. I bought the Elite V2.2 with PS4 style controllers and it arrived last week, it’s a lovely little machine. I used to run a modded Xbox original for retro gaming but this is far better. It’s a LOT smaller, quicker and can run far more modern systems really well. The GameCube/PS2/Saturn/Dreamcast all run great and there is a HUGE variety of games. Yes it’s a lot of money particularly in todays ‘cost of living’ era but it’s worth every penny. Thanks for providing a great machine.

Originally reviewed: earlier V2 Elite Console (2023). Purchased for xmas and ive got to say, what an amazing system! The work put into optimisation, especially for notoriously hard to emulate systems is top notch! A must purchase for any gamer! Worth every penny!

Originally reviewed: earlier V2 Elite Console (2023). A superb console and the best ive owned after trying many. It emulates many of the more powerful systems e.g n64, ps1, gamecube etc flawlessly. Very easy to use and very stable! Great after sale support aswell. Thanks so much

Originally reviewed: earlier V2 Elite Console (2023). Absolutely fantastic device. I was worried at first with parting with over £300, as I’d heard that lots of cheaper alternatives would run slow or many of the games wouldn’t work. However after receiving mine, I can confirm that it runs all the games I’ve played like a dream (and I’ve tried lots of games!) The quality of the controllers is superb. I have a PS4, and honestly, the controllers must be made in the same factory, as apart from the buttons they are identical. I can even charge them off my PS4 controller dock. This is by far and away the best gaming purchase I’ve made in many years. Very happy!

Originally reviewed: V2.4 Elite Console. I have had the v2.4 for about 48 hrs and I am absolutely blown away. It is so easy to set up and the menus are incredible and run like a dream. I can’t believe how many games you get with this thing. The upscaling available makes some of my fav games look spectacular. I feel like a kid at Christmas walking through an arcade with a video game shop at the end. The controller is sublime. If you are reading this then you owe it to yourself to get one of these things. You are saving thousands and thousands of pounds by picking this console up rather than collecting all of the hardware. The company are a pleasure to work with. GET ONE NOW !!!

Originally reviewed: V2.4 Elite Console. Absolutely fantastic service worth every penny and more, highly recommended for all retro fans (Reason for late reviews well I’ve not stopped playing on the console since I got it) and as for the 2.4 update couldn’t be more impressed, now where’s my controller.

Originally reviewed: V2.4 Elite Console. I had been looking for a reliable and high performance emulator for some time now. From reading many reviews from various other brands there always seemed to be some sort of issue either with performances, reliability and controller lag problems. I was recommended and borrowed my friends LightningModz V2.4 as I wanted to trial before investing £300+. After a week of testing and playing through, I had to purchase my own… and can honestly say it’s absolutely 100% worth it! It honestly is an amazing console and I’m certain will provide many, many hours of nostalgia heaven!

Quite often consoles like this are advertised as “plug and play” when in reality, hours and hours of fiddling and tweaking is needed to get them just to run. Your time is precious, and as a middle aged retro-gaming enthusiast, gaming time is even rarer and more precious – why not let Lightning Modz work their magic and bring their expertise to the fold and buy this ready-made passport to your childhood.
Not only that but something that’s entirely unique is the amazing level of customer support, bolstered by their Facebook members page where they field suggestions and answer questions from their customers. This is the only retro gaming console where your journey is just beginning when you get their console, with regular updates released by Lightning Modz, adding new tweaks, and features and occasionally new games. There may be cheaper retro consoles out there, there may be more powerful retro consoles out there, but there aren’t any better ones out there.
It. Just. Works.
..and it’s a blast!

I have had this system since May and I am still happy with my purchase, there are that many games from so many eras, there’s something for all ages and with the V2.6XL console there have been regular updates with extra games. The only issue I’ve had is what game to play next with that many to choose from. I highly recommend this system.

Originally reviewed: earlier V2 Elite Console (2024). Hands Down the best purchase I have made in years… I had high retro gaming nostalgia expectations and the V2 and Lighting Modz over delivered. The system itself works amazingly, with flawless results on favourite games from way back in my arcade and childhood days. Even works plug and play with a sinden lightgun, with tons of supported games like the time crisis series, mad dog 1-2, Virtua cop and House of the dead to name a few, with 100s more. I’ve purchased alot of emulator products like ri pie, pandora box and odroid 64 over the years too try and bring back that arcade feel at home. However nothing compares to the catalogue and performance that this console brings. Alot of the games also run at a higher resolution than before so look even better than I remember. As for customer service, have to say some of the best I’ve received. Lightning Modz update there console with more games and systems all the time and are happy to help with any questions customers have to get the best from the product. Finally upon purchase I was accepted into the v2 Lightning Modz lounge where gamers just like myself are asked for what games and things we would like to see on future updates, so this console has truly been a gift that keeps giving. To those on the fence about this purchase. Don’t be! Whatever retro console you are looking for trust me it’s on here with great results. So make that purchase and you can thank me later.

Superb!! This is a fantastic piece of kit for retro gaming. I had a previous system that that required an online connection and could only hold a few gigabytes of game data at a time which was a real pain in the arse meaning I had to download a few individual PSX titles to the system at a time. Lightningmodz XL2.6 Elite is the ultimate plug and play system which has tens of thousands of games for 70+ systems preloaded with no requirement to be online.. soo many games…first class!!

Had my system scince october 2023. Been upgraded several times over the last year. Great system this thing is plug and play, many of these systems claim to be but this one really is. So simple to setup, you will be gaming like its the 1980s in minutes. These guys have put in a lot of time to make this run very well and it does that. Lightmodz clearly love what they do and it shows, they are always availablr to help no question is a stupid one. The comunity is cool too always asking questions and offering advice. Highly recommended.

I have the V2.6XL AND I’m not disappointed, all the games I ever wanted and works so well , there customer service is 10/10 . I had a cupple of issues and they sorted them all out , I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY OVER ANY OTHERS, will be buying more stuff in the future from them.😀

All inquiries were met and delt, with response, well within reason.
The product itself, the V2.7xl. Is truly gaming nirvana. No more endless updates, loot boxes and DLC. Back to the good ole days.
The hardware is more then capable of what is required of it. The games run the smoothest I have ever seen. In 19 years of emulation
The menus are as beautiful as the games. Visually and audibly.
And the control pad is astonishingly, solidly built.
Really can’t do Lightningmodz justice in words.
10/10

I have had the console for over a month and I absolutely love it. I feel like 10 years old all over again playing all the old games that I use to play as child and bringing back so many memories .
The new games on PS4/PS5 don’t have the same impact as the old use to have so.
The Facebook group is also great because you can ask questions about the console and any issues you might have.
Definitely recommend this console to any retro games enthusiasts

I can’t express how happy I am with the V2 Elite. For two years I had another console from a well known rival retro console company, and it gave me nothing but headaches. Cheap controllers, constant difficulties setting the controllers up, save states not saving, a large number of games not loading or working properly. I assumed this was just how things generally are with emulation.
Because of the problems I had with that console I took the decision to get a V2 Elite, and it’s absolutely perfect. It literally is a true ‘plug and play’ console. I’ve tested quite a few games now on different systems, and every single one has already been set up to work immediately, with all the in game controls configured for you. Even the Sinden lightgun works straight off the bat, without any issues whatsoever. The controller supplied is also extremely well made, so you won’t ever feel the need to use a replacement.
The game selection is outstanding, as there are many titles available which are notoriously hard to find or emulate. Outrun 2 and Starwars Trilogy arcade to name a couple, with the latter being a game that is generally considered to be very difficult to emulate properly. However the V2 console manages it perfectly.
For anyone trying to decide whether or not to get one, I have to say that even though it’s an expensive bit of kit, it’s worth every penny. Clearly a lot of care and attention has gone into this console, and it’s also future proof. If you’re a retro fan, hardcore or casual, I would say this is the only retro console you will even need. Outstanding!
